We hear them sing…see them dance…they can even make us laugh or cry in the movies, and they can really make us hooked up in programs where they are the stars . We love them, and they give us first-rate entertainment that will always be a part of our lives. However, there is more than just entertaining people with this famous celebrities, despite their busy schedules they can still afford to share their time other than themselves for the benefit of the environment.
Nowadays, going green or joining the campaign for environmentalism has been a popular movement. Very popular as even these popular names have joined the jive as they practiced sustainable living while being bold in letting the people know that they are “on” it.
Who’s “who” in green living?

Oprah Winfrey
Oprah Winfrey is not just the queen of talk shows, she is also a famed philanthropist and an advocate of green living. A member of African-American Environmentalist Association, she started getting rid of non-composting plastic bags in 2011 along with reducing her electric bill by 20%.

Brad Pitt
Brad Pitt supports environmentally friendly architecture through his Make it Right Foundation based in New Orleans . After the drastic effect to the lives of the victims of Hurricane Katrina, he donated $10M dollars to help the victims rebuild their dreams with new eco-friendly houses.

Michelle Obama
She may not be seen in movies, but her being the spouse of the US president makes her a very popular name in the world. Yes, the First Lady Michelle Obama also goes green. She maintains a kitchen garden in the White House that is intended to produce food for the presidential family. She wrote her first ever book titled American Grown: The Story of the White House Kitchen Garden and Gardens Across America where she shares her story about being a novice gardener. The book promotes sustainable gardening by showing the readers the scenes behind growing their own food.

Sandra Bullock
Sandra Bullock. The Academy Award winning actress, and also a proud Hollywood mom has been raised with concern for mother earth. In 2006, she opened restaurant using biodegradable materials. She chooses organic food and use organic household products as well.

Edward Norton
Edward Norton. A supporter of The Wilderness Society and Earthjustice, Norton hosts programs for the environment on National Geographic TV. The Oscar-nominated actor comes from a family of environmental activists. His father is the director of Nature Conservancy project in China and also a lawyer for National Trust for Historic Preservation. He has collaborated with BP’s Solar Neighbors program to help put solar panels on the homes of low-income families in Los Angeles.

Leonardo DiCaprio
Not only a man passionate in love in his unforgettable appearance in the award-winning “Titanic,” Leonardo DiCaprio is also so much driven to protect the environment. In 1998, he and his family founded the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation that works on both environmental and humanitarian issues. The foundation supports wildlife protection, forest preservation, healthy oceans, water access, renewable energy, disaster relief and the campaign against climate change.
These famous names are just some of the long roster of celebrities that supports the cause of the environment. They are too many to number, and we all thank them for using their names for a great cause. Moreover, we need not to be celebrities or famed individuals to be stewards of the earth for every small act for the planet counts big.
