Organic fruits, vegetables and meat are the trend nowadays. Market’s of local farmers are everywhere and eating healthy foods is becoming the choice of lifestyle for millions of people who are health conscious. Grass fed pork, the naturally-raised pork, is also getting popular today.

Most foods in the market contain preservatives and other chemicals that could harm our health. Many are aware of this fact and are trying to go green by eating organic food. One of the popular food today is the grass fed pork which comes from 100% real grass-fed pigs. Pigs that are raised naturally, meaning without antibiotics, added growth hormones and other drugs have slower growth but the pork is much more better than the conventionally-fed pigs.

Grass fed pork is rich in omega-3 fatty acid which is heart-friendly and helps fight cancer cells. Since grass fed pork are lean and not fat it also contain less fat and calorie compared to the pork available in the market. It also contains vitamin e, CLA (conjugated linoleic acid) and omega 3. Grass fed pork can help reduce our calorie and if all Americans resort to this type of pork, obesity cases in the country will surely drop drastically.

However, buyers should be aware of some pork products. Not because they are called “natural,” “heritage,” “free range,” or “organic” does not mean it has the nutrition of a real grass fed pork. Pork of grass fed pig are red meat that is as dark as deer meat.

It is very important that one knows what his or her family is eating or where did this food come from. Buy pork in the grocer and you will surely end up with a hormone-laden, grain-fed pork that has lived a terrible life.
